Vision: To reveal the Glory of Christ and his finished work on the cross

Mission: To train a God-fearing literate and healthy generation through academic and spiritual education.

School Motto: Fear God for wisdom

BACKGROUND OF THE SCHOOL

Glory of Christ School was founded by Pastor Walugembe Michael with the aim of empowering children from very poor backgrounds and families with access to education to transform their lives and communities as a whole. We also lay a strong foundation for the children to know Christ, our Savior, thereby raising up a God-fearing generation. The school has provided an education to over 1000 children since its founding in 2009.

The Christian values imparted to these children have shaped their future lives and careers. Many of them have grown and entered different careers such as engineering, medicine, architecture, plumbing, and other valuable professions.

WHAT MAKES GLORY OF CHRIST (GOC) UNIQUE FROM OTHER SCHOOLS IN OUR COMMUNITY?

The school has a staff of 14 Spirit-filled servants who train the head, hands, and heart of each child. There is absolutely no doubt that GOC stands out from the rest of the schools within Masaka City. The team thanks Almighty God, the Set Free donor community, school management, and brilliant born-again Christian educators, for continually reminding each other of the need and support of the mission and vision. The team of gifted staff members enables GOC to keep the school different from other schools in the area, by how the staff receives, trains, and raises up a child. Christian values and Christian living remain high on the curriculum, year in, year out. All the lessons are designed to produce an all-around, spiritual, and morally upright child. This equips the children with the knowledge to live out the lifestyle of Jesus Christ, the Savior, and become a moving example of Him, at school, at home, and within their community.

Glory of Christ staff also attend conferences facilitated by Set Free East Africa, Christian Schools Association, and Kids Around the World program. The school uses the Holy Bible, Gospel Literature, and flannel graph visual aids to equip staff to teach creative and meaningful Bible lessons. This helps the children know and recognize their identity in Jesus Christ.

The teachers are unique in countless ways. The staff has always been specially selected and recruited on the basis of two core requirements. The first is spiritual, whether he or she is a true Born-Again Christian. The second requirement is whether they are a qualified teacher or not. If either of these qualifications are not met, they are unfit to be part of the team. Glory of Christ offers discipleship lessons to the staff based on Christian values and conduct. This gives them a new perspective of who they are – God’s Servants, to obey this calling and do His work faithfully. By the right perspective of the teachers, and the children’s awareness of their identity, GOC is set apart from all other schools in the community.  We are a school with a difference, where the lives of children are purposefully transformed.

Glory of Christ gives guidance and counseling to the children and ongoing outreach to their homes. This is unheard of with other local schools. The location of GOC makes the school unique. Glory of Christ is located in a quiet and conducive environment that enables uninterrupted learning for the children, unlike other schools with nearby traffic, factories, bars, and nightclubs. The school has a full-time Chaplain who ensures the spiritual needs of both the learners and teachers are cared for on a daily basis. Our Chaplain has led many to Christ which is an essential part of the Gospel. We take the Bible seriously, giving it the attention it deserves. Our children recite scriptures daily and apply them in their lives. The same applies to teachers who we continually remind to exhibit Christian living standards for the glory of God.

THE SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM

The sponsorship program gives sponsored students the opportunity to participate in projects such as raising pigs, poultry, making local crafts, as well as providing clothes, bedding, and scholastic materials among other things. This has improved their quality of life and has helped GOC reach out to the wider community.

HEALTH CARE

In order to maintain children’s health, the school maintains a full-time school nurse to ensure both students and working staff receive needed medical attention. This assures parents that their children’s health is in good hands.
