Joanitah is the only girl in her family that has studied up to secondary level. She is so thankful to the Lord for the provision and guidance up to the level she is at.

She lives in Mukono district with her sister, the sister’s husband and their four children. These live in a rented one bedroomed house. The sister and husband are entirely responsible for Joanitah’s wellbeing but they are also struggling hard to look after their own children.

Joanitah’s sister brought her from Mbale (eastern Uganda) where she lived without studying due to lack of money for her school fees. During her primary education, Joanitah used to clean classrooms and school offices so as to earn some money to cater for her requirements. Her sister is a housewife who only carries out small scale agriculture with the husband.

Her father lives in Kenya where he is married to another woman. Joanitah says that the father hardly sends money to look after her yet his earning is not so bad. Joanitah’s grief is that she has never seen her mother and no one knows whether she is alive or dead.

Joanitah’s desire is that her children will not go through the situation she is undergoing. She also doesn’t always want to see people suffering, so she is passionate of helping others.
