Babrah lives in Malemba village Rakai district with her father, mother and other six children in a two bedroomed house. Her father is a fisherman who is hired by other people who have nets and canoes to catch fish for them, since he doesn’t have such equipment. Whenever he is paid, he can spend like two days without returning home but instead drinking alcohol.

Babrah’s mother digs in people’s gardens and the little she is paid is used to buy food at home and meeting a few needs of her children. Her mother faces violence since the husband always beats her up and chases her away from home. “My mother sometimes spends like two weeks at our grandmother’s place and during such time, we sometimes fail to get what to eat since dad doesn’t bother. If this continues, I am worried my education is at stake because there is no cooperation at all between my mother and father” says Babrah.

During holidays, Babrah has always been staying back at school to involve in school projects like fencing, molding of blocks and pavers among others, from which she gets money to buy some personal necessities.

Babrah says she is determined and commited to studying hard such that she changes her own life, the mother’ life and her siblings as well. Her prayer is that God will pave for her a way where seems to be no way, for her to successfully complete her studies because it is in education where she sees her bright future.
