Babrah lives with her mother and seven siblings in Okalis village, Soroti district, Eastern Uganda. She is the second born out of eight children. Girls sleep in a two bedroomed house with their mother yet the three boys sleep in their own hut.
Babrah’s father died in 2019 which she says affects her education so much, since the mother strives alone yet it was always combined effort with their late father.
Her mother deals in sale of second hand clothes and also carries out small scale farming. She uses the little earning to cater for the family needs and also meets a few school needs for her children. Babrah has two brothers Jonathan and Joseph who are also at Light Academy with him but the school dues are so overwhelming to their mother, since she has to educate others who are in primary.
During holidays, Babrah works with the mother in the garden which is source of their food and some funds for their wellbeing. Unfortunately some seasons don’t yield well due to weather changes and this also challenges them as a family since they sometimes don’t have enough food.
Babrah’s dream is to become a nurse and she says she desires so much to help others most especially the elderly and the needy.
